RIIZE Wins ISAC 2025 Shooting Gold Medal: Anton Scores 10.1 in Debut Event

K-pop group RIIZE claimed gold in pistol shooting at MBC's 2025 Idol Star Athletics Championships, becoming the first champions in the event's history.
Historic Victory With Minimal Training
The boy group defeated P1Harmony in the finals on October 6, despite having only one practice session compared to competitors' two sessions. RIIZE member Anton revealed they "squeezed in some time to practice once" between their concert tour schedule.
Anton, Shotaro, and Wonbin represented RIIZE in the three-person team competition, which replaced archery as ISAC celebrated its 15th anniversary.
Anton's Perfect 10.1 Shot Seals Win
Anton led the team's performance with exceptional accuracy, recording a remarkable 10.1-point shot in the finals against P1Harmony's Keeho. His consistent precision throughout the tournament earned him recognition as the team's "shooting ace."
The competition format gave each shooter five shots within a 50-second window, with all athletes firing simultaneously rather than waiting for opponents.
Championship Path
Semifinals: RIIZE defeated ZEROBASEONE in a rivalry between two groups that debuted in 2023. Wonbin playfully taunted opponents with "ZEROBASE... please don't score ONE point," referencing their team name.
Finals: Against P1Harmony, who advanced after overtime against NCT WISH, the match came down to Wonbin's clutch performance. Though P1Harmony's Intak tied the score, Wonbin maintained composure to deliver consistent 9.6-range shots for the gold.
Social Media Reaction
Anton trended at #10 on South Korean Twitter with "Anton Shooting," as fans praised both his marksmanship and visual appeal. Commenters noted his "action movie protagonist" aura while handling the pistol.
The victory added to RIIZE's ISAC 2025 medal haul, which included two silver medals in soccer penalty shootouts and mixed group shooting events.
After winning, Anton expressed genuine satisfaction: "We actually wanted to win. We're so happy that we were really able to win." Wonbin thanked fans directly: "Thank you, BRIIZE! We got first place!"
Expert commentators included Asian Games gold medalist Kim Jung-mi and South Korea's first Olympic rapid-fire pistol medalist Jo Young-jae.
The 2025 ISAC was filmed August 25, 2025, and broadcast during Chuseok holidays beginning October 6, 2025.
