BTS's RM Calls Out HYBE During Live Broadcast: "I Wish They Would Care for Us More"
BTS leader RM made surprisingly candid remarks about the group's agency HYBE during a live broadcast on December 21, 2025, expressing frustration over what he perceives as insufficient support from the company.
All seven BTS members gathered on fan platform Weverse for a group live stream, where they discussed their highly anticipated 2026 comeback. The conversation took an unexpected turn when RM voiced his concerns about the agency's treatment of the group.
RM's Direct Criticism
"I wish our company would care more about us," RM said during the broadcast. When oldest member Jin suggested the company has been working hard for them, RM responded, "I don't really know. I don't usually say things like this, but I just wish they would look after us better and treat us with more care."
The remarks weren't isolated. During a December 16 live broadcast, RM had already expressed frustration about delays in announcing comeback details. "I'm going crazy wanting to comeback so badly," he said at the time. "When is the company going to announce it? This is driving me nuts. HYBE, please announce it soon."
Jimin echoed RM's sentiments during that earlier broadcast, saying "time feels longer than expected, so it's frustrating." Suga attempted to reassure fans by noting that an announcement would come "in the near future."
2026 Comeback Plans
Despite the tensions, the members remain excited about their return. During the December 21 broadcast, RM declared, "Let's make 2026 BTS's year. Something really big is coming." J-Hope agreed, calling 2026 "an important year for us."
BTS officially announced their spring 2026 comeback during a July 1, 2025 Weverse broadcast, confirming plans for a new album and world tour. The group has been working on new music in the United States since July, with album recording reportedly completed in early November 2025, according to Jimin.
The comeback will mark BTS's first full group release since their 2020 album "Be" and their first concert tour since October 15, 2022, when they performed their "Yet to Come" concert in Busan. That performance marked more than three years without group activities due to mandatory military service.
Revelations About Difficult Times
During the December 21 broadcast, RM also opened up about considering whether BTS should continue as a group. "I thought tens of thousands of times whether it would be better to disband or stop the team," he revealed. "What keeps us going is the love between members and our love and respect for you [fans]."
He addressed questions about why the group didn't pursue activities in the second half of 2025 following member discharges. "We didn't want to waste time either, and I personally wanted to be very active after discharge," RM explained. "But there were reasons we decided not to be active in the second half, though I don't have the authority to explain everything."
RM noted the extended performance gap has created pressure. "Our last concert was in October 2022, so it's been over three years without performing. Of course we genuinely want to be on stage," he said. "But a lot has changed over time, and we need proper preparation. Personally, the pressure is considerable, and it's frustrating that preparations just keep continuing."
Military Service Completion
All seven BTS members completed their mandatory South Korean military service in 2025. Jin, the eldest, was discharged in June 2024 after enlisting in December 2022. J-Hope finished his service in October 2024.
RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook were discharged in June 2025 after enlisting in December 2023. Suga, who served as a social service agent due to a previous shoulder injury, completed his duty on June 21, 2025, making him the last member to finish.
The group is currently preparing for their March 2026 comeback, with choreography practice reportedly underway and album production complete.
