G-Dragon Sues Malicious Commenters for First Time in 19-Year Career

Big Bang leader's agency declares "no settlements" policy against online harassment
G-Dragon is taking legal action against malicious online comments for the first time since his debut 19 years ago, his agency Galaxy Corporation announced.
The K-pop star's management company issued a statement declaring zero tolerance for false rumors and defamatory posts targeting the Big Bang leader, emphasizing there will be "no settlements or leniency."
Breaking Years of Silence
Galaxy Corporation confirmed on April 3, 2025, that "baseless false information and malicious posts targeting our artist have been recklessly spreading through online communities and social media platforms."
The agency called the harassment "a serious issue that goes beyond mere opinions" and warned that such actions could result in legal punishment under South Korea's Information and Communications Network Act and Criminal Code.
Comprehensive Legal Strategy
Galaxy Corporation has retained law firm Yulchon LLC, one of South Korea's top four legal practices, to handle both criminal and civil proceedings. The agency is actively collecting evidence and monitoring social media platforms for defamatory content.
The legal action extends beyond direct name mentions. Galaxy Corporation warned that posts using "initials, abbreviated names, or nicknames" that reference G-Dragon will also face prosecution.
Fan Support Encouraged
The agency has established a dedicated email for fans to report malicious content, stating that fan reports will serve as "crucial evidence for legal action."
This marks a significant shift for G-Dragon, who previously granted grace periods for content removal in 2023 but has now adopted a hardline approach.
Industry Impact
The move comes as G-Dragon continues his successful "Übermensch" World Tour, which drew 60,000 fans to its opening Seoul concerts in March. The artist signed with Galaxy Corporation in 2023 after leaving longtime agency YG Entertainment.
The case highlights growing efforts by Korean celebrities to combat online harassment through legal means, potentially setting a precedent for industry-wide anti-harassment policies.
