SM Entertainment's six-member group NCT WISH released their highly anticipated summer track "Surf" on August 12, 2025, at 6 PM KST across major music platforms. The energetic single serves as a pre-release from their upcoming third mini-album "COLOR," scheduled for September 1.
"Surf" showcases NCT WISH's signature refreshing sound through a hybrid dance-pop composition. The track combines funky rhythms with crisp, summery production created by Park Moon-chi, Chan, and SHIRT. Lyrically, the song uses surfing as a metaphor for youthful freedom and excitement, with songwriters Jeon Gandhi, Chan, and SHIRT crafting verses that capture the thrill of riding waves.
The chorus emphasizes the carefree summer spirit: "Surf surf, holding hands / Dancing on the sea, my Dancer / Surf surf, holding hands / Don't let go like this / Right now."
The accompanying music video, shot entirely on location in Bali, follows a surfing club's chaotic training camp adventures. The tropical setting maximizes the song's summer atmosphere while showcasing the members' playful chemistry.
This release builds on NCT WISH's remarkable 2025 success. Their previous mini-album "poppop" achieved million-seller status in just five days after its April release, with first-week sales reaching 1,087,838 copies according to Hanteo Chart. The group has consistently grown their fanbase since debuting in February 2024.
The upcoming "COLOR" album will feature seven tracks including the title song of the same name. SM Entertainment describes the collection as representing "the emotional spectrum of youth," with each track exploring different aspects of the group's artistic range.
To celebrate the release, NCT WISH hosted special events including a Melon chat session and a live broadcast titled "Wishgo Surf Club Summer Training Camp" through their official YouTube and TikTok channels.
